Baby of Control & What Are People For?
The opening night of Theater der Welt 2023 finally brings together two acts that seem to have been separated at birth; Baby of Control and What Are People For?
One of them hatched from the brain, the other from the thighs, both groups have been nurtured with warmth in the incubator of Hafen 2 to allow them to bloom freely.

Baby of Control are an emotional firework, a bright bouquet of folk music, a potpourri of bangers, a papier maché dream soaked in LSD. Enchanted Eurodance anthems, helium rap and hardcore disco. This all-singing all-dancing chorus of apparitions – made up of inhabitants of the long, thin planet – celebrate the state of incubation. Also taking part in their initiation ritual are What are people for? from Munich, that faraway city south of the magical Odenwald, where bizarre foods are everyday fare, they brew mysterious drinks and speak strange-sounding languages.
What Are People For?
WAPF? create dystopian music for dancing on the volcano as the bastard child of Tom Tom Club and Throbbing Gristle. With bold vocal experiments à la Su Tissue of Suburban Lawns to raps like Kae Tempest, all laid over a punky but very danceable groove: this and everything in between are WAPF?
Afterwards the DJs Kimchi Eukimchi and letung will perform:
Kimchi Eukimchi are a Eurodance Pop Chillies Collective. Their nude costumes, passionate moves and Korean vocals fuel the dancers’ freedom. Fast Korean dance music from the late 90s, around 140 bpm.
letung’s sets kick off with a solid foundation of house and seamlessly blend into a variety of genres, creating a captivating atmosphere. His ability to draw from three different genres allows him to curate an entire evening of mesmerizing music, where the audience can‘t help but move to the beat.
On June 30, at the Museum Angewandte Kunst, Frankfurt starting at 18:00, the opening of the central festival venue Incubation Pod. Dreaming worlds will continue the celebration.
