Building the Workshop: Planning and Playing at the Museum Angewandte Kunst
Together with the Tunisian artists’ collective El Warcha (Arabic for “the workshop”), we will design and build a space that suits our needs and create a workshop in the middle of the museum that can be both a recreation area and an adventure playground in one! In practical terms, we will study design options and the recycling of materials. During the festival, the workshop will accommodate a variety of artists and groups and can also be used for spontaneous gatherings. Together we will work with found and used materials which we will repurpose in line with our wishes and desires as sculptures that can be used and performed on. Recycling, creative re-use, and sustainability will play a major role. You have never seen a museum like this!

About the Artist(s)
The Tunisian collective El Warcha advocates the joy of experimentation as a catalyst for reflection and exchanging knowledge. Their participatory educational ideas reconceive living spaces. In this process, the projects they have initiated include swimming concerts, short science fiction films, and a public boxing ring. El Warcha promotes civic engagement, co-determination, and education outside traditional institutions. El Warcha has been active internationally since 2018: as well as in Tunis, there have now been workshops in London, Lisbon, Davis, and in the Tunisian desert city of Nefta. In 2022 El Warcha was invited to documenta fifteen.
