The festival Theater der Welt 2023 commits itself to an inclusive society in which people with disabilities and chronic illnesses are entitled to equal access and participation opportunities. However, there are still many barriers that need to be removed so that more people feel comfortable with us.
As part of a holistic process, we are currently working with experts to develop an accessibility concept that goes beyond the minimum requirements laid down by law to include spatial and communication measures for accessibility. Everyone involved in the festival has been trained to understand and implement the needs of our visitors with disabilities.
Theater der Welt 2023 in Frankfurt-Offenbach is a festival where people with different biographies, interests, beliefs, and expectations and with different social backgrounds come together. We want to create spaces in which people can stay and feel comfortable, regardless of their disability.
We recognize it as our social task and obligation to continuously work on creating and maintaining discrimination-perceptive places, spaces and conditions. In order to create a perceptive environment for visitors with disabilities in particular, our evening staff has been trained accordingly.
Discrimination of any kind and its relativization will not be tolerated.

Ticketing
People with disabilities choose a reduced ticket of 8 euros for events with a fixed price. One accompanying person gets a free ticket.
The organizers of Theater der Welt are aware that not all disabilities are visible, and disability must be recognized as a spectrum. Since we therefore consider the “severely disabled ID” as an ableist document, it does not have to be presented for the use of accessibility offers.
The ticket purchase is possible via four different ways:
Webshop
On the individual event websites there is a link to the webshop, which is unfortunately not sufficiently accessible for screen reader users. In the webshop you can buy reduced tickets without a ticket for an accompanying person and reduced tickets with a free ticket for the accompanying person.
By phone
Tickets can be ordered via Schauspiel Frankfurt at 069 212 494 94. Opening hours are Monday-Friday, 9:00-19:00 and Saturday and Sunday 10:00-14:00.
Payment is possible either by invoice or by credit card. Please note that tickets will not be shipped until payment has been received.
At the ticket office
Tickets for individual events can be purchased on site at the Theaterkasse of Schauspiel Frankfurt.

Opening hours: Monday through Friday 10:00-18:00 and Saturdays 10:00-14:00.

Regular and discounted tickets as well as free tickets for accompanying persons can be ordered and reserved directly at tickets@theaterderwelt.de.

For the reservation, please mention the following data in the mail: full name, full address, date of birth, phone number.
For the accompanying person the full name is sufficient.
If you need an accompanying person for your visit, they will require a ticket. However, the ticket is free of charge. No certificate of disability is required for this.

Bus stop Eiserner Steg – bus number 46. The bus stop has a tactile guidance system (Attention: There is a busy bicycle path between the entrance and the bus stop).

Stop Schweizer Platz – subway lines U1, U2, U3 and U8. The stop is accessible without steps by elevator and has a tactile guidance system.
Frankfurt LAB
The Frankfurt LAB is located in the buildings of the Kommunikationsfabrik in Frankfurt’s Gallusviertel.
Bus
Bus stop Schmidtstraße – bus number M34
The bus stop is located directly in front of the Kommunikationsfabrik. The entrance to the Frankfurt LAB can be reached via a lowered curb on the opposite side of the street from the right narrow side (south side) of the building.
Tram
Stop Mönchhofstraße – tram lines 11, 14, 21 and N11
The tram stop is located 200 meters from the Kommunikationsfabrik. At the intersection you have to change the side of the street and turn into Schmidtstraße and after about 200 meters turn right into the backyard of the Kommunikationsfabrik. The stop and trams are accessible without steps. There is no tactile guidance system at the stop.
Künstler*innenhaus Mousonturm

Stop Merianplatz: subway lines 4 and 5. The stop is accessible without steps by elevator and has a tactile guidance system.
During the festival, there is no step-free access to subway line 4 at the Hauptbahnhof due to construction work at the B-level. We recommend taking one of the many S-Bahn lines from the Hauptbahnhof to the Konstablerwache to change to the U4 without steps.

Museum Angewandte Kunst
There are disabled parking spaces in the immediate vicinity of the entrance on Schaumainkai.
Frankfurt LAB
There are no free disabled parking spaces at Frankfurt LAB. The nearest public parking is on Schmidtstraße behind the Frankfurt LAB building. Access ensues from Mainzer Landstraße, opposite Schmidtstraße 51. There are disabled parking spaces in this parking lot, the charge is 2 euros per evening. From there, it is possible to get close to the entrance of the LAB building.
Künstler*innenhaus Mousonturm
A disabled parking space is located directly in front of the entrance door. Further disabled parking spaces are located in the courtyard of the GDA Wohnstift next door.
Schauspiel Frankfurt
There are six disabled parking spaces in the multi-storey parking lot below the theater.
These are subject to a charge: on weekdays per hour or part thereof: 2 euros / on Sundays and public holidays per hour or part thereof: 1 euro (maximum night rate from 5 p.m. to 7 a.m.: 6 euros).
There are 2 elevators in the parking garage.
The distance from the parking garage to the Schauspielhaus is 150 meters. The distance to the Kammerspiele is 300 meters.
Bockenheimer Depot
There are no free marked parking spaces for the disabled in the immediate vicinity.
The nearest paid parking facility is in the parking garage Adalbertstraße 10, 60486 Bockenheim.
There are five parking spaces for the disabled: parking rates from 1.80 euros per hour and up to 18.00 euros per day.
Opening hours: Mon-Sat, 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sun 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Zoogesellschaftshaus
There are two public parking spaces for the disabled at Bernhard-Grzimek-Allee 4, 60316 Frankfurt am Main just before the tram station Zoo and two directly in front of the Heinrich-von-Gagern-Gymnasium Bernhard-Grzimek-Allee 6, 60316 Frankfurt am Main.
Capitol Theater
There is a public disabled parking space directly next to the main entrance of the Capitol Theater.
Alte Schlosserei (ehemalig EVO Halle)
There are no disabled parking spaces in the immediate vicinity. Regular parking is available in the courtyard of the EVO premises. Access ensues via the EVO plant entrance at Goethering, 63067 Offenbach.
Wetter- und Klimawerkstatt
The nearest public disabled parking space is at the height of Kaiserstraße 59, 63065 Offenbach, about 150 meters from the venue. 50 meters further on, at the height of Kaiserstraße 44, 63065 Offenbach, there is another disabled parking space.
Gaststätte Zur Insel
There are no disabled parking spaces in the immediate vicinity. Regular parking is available at Schmickstraße, 60314 Frankfurt am Main.
Hafen 2
There are no disabled parking spaces or regular parking spaces in the immediate vicinity.
Grace Studio Bar Offenbach
There are no disabled parking spaces in the immediate vicinity.
On-site accessibility
Service dogs are welcome at all venues!
There is a consensus that there are no spaces free of discrimination and no one is free of mistakes. We strive and are reflective about our privileges, constantly learning and sharing our knowledge.
Trained staff are present at all venues during events to act as a point of contact in difficult situations. These individuals are marked with a button.
For our festival, we have appointed trained persons of trust whom you can turn to in exceptional emotional situations. We want all visitors to feel comfortable with us. The confidants advise and support people who have experienced discrimination, confidentially and independently.
All venues except from Gaststätte Zur Insel are accessible without steps. However, access is not possible via the main entrance at the following venues:
Museum Angewandte Kunst
The main entrance has a revolving door, so step-free access can be obtained via the side door. It is located directly next to the revolving door and can be opened by the staff if necessary.
Zoogesellschaftshaus
Step-free access can be gained via the supply courtyard with the aid of an elevator.
Accessible restrooms
The accessible restrooms at Theater der Welt are tested according to DIN standards. They have
- a minimum movement space of 1.50 meters,
- wide doors over 90cm,
- wheelchair accessible washbasins,
- grab rails and
- emergency call systems.
Accessible restrooms are located at the following venues:
MAK, Frankfurt LAB, Mousonturm, Schauspiel Frankfurt, Bockenheimer Depot, Alte Schlosserei, Capitol Theater Offenbach, and Wetter- und Klimawerkstatt, Künstler*innenhaus Mousonturm.
Unfortunately, there are no accessible restrooms available in the Alte Schlosserei during the festival.
In the accessible restroom of Künstler*innenhaus Mousonturm the emergency call system is temporarily defective.
There are no accessible restrooms in the Zoogesellschaftshaus. Regular restrooms can be reached by elevator in the basement.
There is a restroom with a larger movement area at Hafen 2. The restroom has a handle on the right side and can only be approached from the left. The sink is accessible from underneath. The flush is only accessible past the handle. To use the restroom, please ask the bar staff for the key.

Gender-neutral restrooms are located in the Frankfurt LAB and Künstler*innenhaus Mousonturm.

Three devices for the use of a mobile induction loop are available in the auditorium of the Künstler*innenhaus Mousonturm.

We invite all visitors of “The Cadela Força Trilogy. Chapter I: The Bride and The Goodnight Cinderella” to attend the introduction by dramaturg Teresa Bauer in the auditorium. It will start 30 minutes before the beginning of each performance. In this introduction, Teresa Bernauer will address a range of intense and distressing content that is dealt with in the play and can potentially be triggering.
At Frankfurt LAB and Künstler*innenhaus Mousonturm, there will be an escort service for blind visitors starting at the entrance to the venues. The service staff will help you find your way around the building and accompany you to your seat. Please feel free to contact us. In the Museum Angewandte Kunst, there will exist an “Audio Description To Go” on 15.7. and 16.7. During this event, the exhibitions and performances will be described to you while you are guided through the rooms. During the festival, a chill out area will be set up on level 2 of Museum Angewandte Kunst.
We would like to offer visitors the possibility to rest for a moment in a quiet environment and to recover from situations intense in terms of sensory stimuli or content. This place is open to all people who want to retreat from the festival hustle and bustle for a moment. There are various seating and lounging options, headphones and sensory materials that can be used to relax. One area in the chill out area is darkened. Please be considerate of each other.
The way to the chill out area is signposted and accessible without steps via an elevator. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our front-of-house staff at any time.

Everyone should be safe during the preparations and events.
No one should be excluded or insulted:
- Because of skin color.
- Because of one’s sexuality.
- Because you come from a certain community.
- Because you look a certain way.
- Because one is homosexual.
- Because one lives as a trans person.
Meaning:
A person was born with a gender.
But the person feels:
I have a different gender. - Because of a disability.
- Because of a religion.
- Because of being of a certain age.
We want to provide safe places and spaces:
People should feel comfortable there.
No one is excluded there.
We want to protect these places and spaces.
We see that as our task in society.
We see that as our duty.
All should treat each other with respect.
Everyone is equally important.
Everyone is responsible for this.
That is important to us.
And that is what we expect from:

- Business partners.
- Artistic teams.
- Technical teams.
- Administrative teams.
- Guests.

Persons of trust help and advise people:
When they are excluded.
The information in the conversations remains secret.
The persons of trust do not work for a company or a party.
Affected persons can talk to the persons of trust.
The persons of trust inform about help.

They also know other counseling offices.
The affected person should get help quickly.
They should be well informed
If a person concerned wants to remain secret:
Then they can send another person in their name to the person of trust.
One can also turn to the person of trust:
If one has observed exclusion.
It is not necessary to have personally experienced the exclusion.
The persons of trust have a duty of confidentiality.
A person of trust is only allowed to tell something.
If the person concerned allows it.
All steps are always discussed with the persons concerned.
Nothing is decided without them.
Everything is done only with the consent of affected persons.
Or with the consent of people who help the affected person.

Penalties for exclusion

Public relations work means:

Public relations before the festival

Public relations during the festival
There is one responsible person for each venue.
This person is called venue supervisor.
This person informs about the following at the venue:

At individual events there will be an information station.

Sensory stimuli
We provide information in advance about potential challenges to the audience during performances. We also point out various auditory, visual, olfactory, gustatory or haptic stimuli that can possibly be triggering. Transparent communication about this allows prospective visitors to make a self-determined decision about whether a performance is accessible to them. Unless explicitly described otherwise, the following theater rules apply during the performance: Visitors must remain quiet and seated throughout the performance.
- Approx 120 min of walking and light physical activity (e.g. games, sports, light movement), attendees are encouraged to wear proper shoes.
- Audience members are asked to interact with teenagers and other attendees and participate in activities throughout the performance. Audience members are welcome to modify their activity to a pace that feels comfortable to them.
- Environment: teens and crew will be equipped with headlamps and flashlights on the walk. Attendees should be prepared for walking at night, there may be uneven ground, areas that may not have ramps, and some outside areas may be more dimly lit.
- Sound: background music, sound will be played from a small portable speaker at a low volume throughout parts of the performance.

*Boogaerdt/VanderSchoot will provide, together with Klara Alexova, special sound bath ceremonies: Improvised meditative live concerts, tuned to the energy of the group. Instruments such as quartz crystal singing bowls, gongs, drums, chimes, and tuning forks are used to bring you into a state of deep relaxation where stress release, healing and insight can occur. The sound bath takes approximately 45 minutes (full length of the performance: 70-80 minutes) and can best be experienced with your eyes closed. Just listen, relax, and float downstream, into the ever-changing flow of vibrating bodies.
